City of Sails Sprints

City of Sails Sprints is an evening keelboat series run jointly by Northcote & Birkenhead Yacht Club and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. It runs during daylight saving days, with a short break over midsummer.

Four fleets compete: Etchells, MRX, Elliott 7 and Young 88. The Etchells and MRX race on Tuesday evenings, and the Young 88s race fortnightly on Thursday evenings.

Most racing is held just off Birkenhead Point in westerly and south-westerly winds. In north-easterlies the course moves north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, clear of its wind shadow.
